OK, I’m not going to lie and start this blog out by telling you I’m excited about the Super Bowl this year.  The only thing that gets me gitty is that it’s being played in my home town of Minneapolis.  Let me tell you, if you haven’t been to US Bank Stadium…. it is A-W-E-S-O-M-E.  My brother and I went for a pre-season Vikings game back in August.  I digress…. we are talking about the best places to watch the big game in San Diego.

Now, these are in no particular order and they certainly don’t reflect anything other than the places I enjoy going when watching the game.

First is Uptown Tavern in Hillcrest.  Why do I like this place so much?  Well, first, it’s got a great crowd and the staff is extremely friendly.  If you haven’t been, I’d describe Uptown as a pub with patio seating.  Their food is locally sourced, they have plates you can share and big plates.  There are a lot of craft cocktails and microbrews on tap.  They serve an amazing brunch and have $12 bottles of champagne on Sundays.  #winning.  They also have multiple TV’s for watching the game.

The second is it’s sister restaurant–different owners now—West Coast Tavern.  This one is located on 29th and University.  Why I love this place so much?  Well, it’s similar to Uptown Tavern and it has this HUGE GIGANTIC projector screen for broadcasting the game.  The food is American Style with nice portions and plenty of beer on tap.

Barleymash in the Gaslamp is also a good choice.  It’s really known as a night time spot–however — it’s a great place to catch a game.  You won’t be disappointed with the food either.

If you’re going to head to the beach, the Local is a great choice, just a block from the ocean, this bar has a great energy, a ton of beer on tap, large TV’s and some great food choices.

Please comment below and let me know where you decided to go.  I’m on a 60 day challenge at my gym and I can’t eat all the yummy food or drink beer.  It’s chicken breast, brown rice and veggies for me.
